Dental implants are made of titanium and replace the root of your missing tooth. Following placement of the implant the surrounding bone will gradually integrate with it, holding the implant firmly in place. A crown or bridge matching the colour and shape of your existing teeth is then fitted to the top of the dental implant(s).

Single dental implants are a great option if you only need one tooth replacing. It won’t affect your neighbouring teeth: allowing you to eat, smile and laugh with confidence. 

If you have more than one missing tooth, you don’t necessarily need implants to replace them all. An implant can be placed either side of the gap, and a bridge fitted to fill the space.

Dermot qualified from QUB in 2001 and, after several years working north and south of the border, moved to Edinburgh to work in a private practice. He became interested in periodontics (disease and treatment of the supporting structures of teeth) and in 2011 was awarded an MSc (honours) specialising in this subject at Glasgow Dental Hospital. While there he lectured in periodontal disease and worked in the consultant clinic of the Glasgow restorative department.

Trudi graduated with Distinction from Queens University Belfast in 2011. As a student she won numerous awards including the LM Award for highest marks and best overall student. Trudi has won the prestigious DCP Award for Special Care Dentistry presented by the Irish Society for Disability & Oral Health. She was also delighted to be a finalist for Northern Ireland's Dental Hygienist of the Year 2016.

Trudi has a keen interest in dental public health and research, and she has lectured both locally and at international level. She has several academic publications in peer-reviewed journals including the British Dental Journal and Dental Health. She is co-author of the collaborative evidence based text book Dentistry in Prisons.

Trudi carries out all aspects of dental hygienist treatments and works closely with the dentists to establish and maintain a personalised preventative program for each patient, tailored to their specific oral health needs. She is a member of both the British Society for Dental Hygiene and Therapy, and the Association of Dental Implantology. She continues to update her knowledge through postgraduate courses.

How much are dental implants?

The cost of dental implants will vary depending on your dental needs. We offer affordable payment plans with 0% finance to help you spread the cost of your new smile. 

Is my consultation free?

Yes, your initial consultation with us is completely free! To secure you place, we will require a fully refundable booking deposit. This deposit will be refunded following the consultation, regardless of whether the patient proceeds with the service or not.

How long do dental implants last?

Just like natural teeth, dental implants can be damaged by trauma and affected by gum disease and poor dental health. However, if you look after them - they can last for many years. 

Should I have dental implants abroad?

We don’t recommend having dental implants in other countries. If you have any problems later on, it can more difficult to get these sorted as you will have to travel back to where you had your treatment (multiple visits are often needed). Also, as there are different implant systems, some may not be compatible with the availability of implant components in other countries.
